Great news for online traders or those who want to start selling online: Amazon have confirmed that they will be present at Small Business 2.0 and showcasing their services. Amazon has been enjoying explosive growth in recent months with lots of disaffected eBay sellers claiming that they’re enjoying huge success and increased sales with the ecommerce giant.

Amazon isn’t just about books: if you’re selling new goods of any kind, the chances are that you’ll be able to plug into Amazon. Leading the presentation will be Matthew Henderson from Amazon. If you’re interested in selling more on the net, this session is not to be missed.

Meet Microsoft at Small Business 2.0

One of the exciting exhibitors and presenters at Small Business 2.0 will be Microsoft. They’ll be showcasing their products and services and Cedric Chambaz will be speaking about: “Online advertising: paying for ads successfully and how to avoid common pitfalls.” If you’re interested in paying for search engine marketing, Cedric will be giving you the skinny on the basics of getting started and using search engines to get your message out there.

Microsoft will also be bringing some of their Office Live team, demonstrating their offerings dedicated to helping small businesses grow through new online tools and marketing channels.

They’ll be talking about recent changes to the eBay Marketplace so it’ll be an ideal opportunity to get the inside scoop on the raft of developments that have been announced this year. We’re pleased to announce that Tony Neate, the Managing Director of Get Safe Online (a government supported initiative to promote internet safety) will be presenting at Small Business 2.0 on the 11th October at the New Connaught Rooms in London.

Tony enjoyed an illustrious 30 year career in the police force before turning his hand to promoting online safety. His talk promises to be an enlightening insider’s look at keeping your business safe on the internet.

Online Sales will Continue to Grow, despite a recession.

“Ecommerce will buck retail trends,” said David J Smith of the IMRG at a conference earlier in the year, “and continue to grow. When the going gets tough, consumers go online.” That’s pretty much why we’re so excited about Small Business 2.0: selling and marketing online will help your business weather the storm.

Did you know?

- IMRG Index shows that, between April 2000 and end of 2007 British ecommerce has grown 5213%. The total UK spend in 2007 was £46.6bn.

- 15p in the consumer pound is spent online. Despite economic worries, Q108 saw the biggest total spend online of any quarter since inception: £13bn (or £213 per head of population).

- The IMRG forceasts that British online spending will increase every year to 2012.

Demographics

-The gender breakdown of British online shoppers is (give or take less than 1%): 50/50 Male/Female.

- 21% of online spending comes from women 18-34. 50% of women over 25 buy clothing online.

- The fast growing group of online shoppers are the Over 55s. Over 55s will soon surpass the 35-44 year olds soon as the biggest group of online shoppers.
